Aliens love cake?
⭐ On a random Tuesday a new idea sparked into two idiots named Casi and Patrick... ⭐
"What if we make a game about baking in space where..."
Planet earth joined the intergalactic pastry alliance with several planets. You and your best friend got elected by the earth president to be the new bakers on an intergalactic planet called Gladus 374 where aliens from all over the galaxy come to taste the best cakes in the universe! Your job is to fulfill their crazy wishes and serve them the tastiest cakes.
"Casi, that's a fun idea, but how should the game work?"
👉 This is how the game works:
⭐Taking Orders: Aliens have very specific preferences - some like strawberry cake, others want pineapple or rich chocolate layers. Listen carefully and remember your orders! 📝
⭐Prepare the dough: Choose from different flavours and ingredients, maybe someone needs a wobbly dough or a purple grape base?🍇
⭐Baking: Make sure the cake is baked perfectly. Some aliens like it ultra-fluffy, others prefer it mushy! 🍰
⭐Decorate: Now it’s time to get creative! Add sparkling star sprinkles, crazy fruit garnishes, or even bubbly frosting. 🧁
⭐Serving: If the cake is exactly how you want it, there's a big tip in intergalactic currency! But be careful - dissatisfied aliens could turn their laser eyes on you! 😶🌫️
As levels increase, come new ingredients, new desserts, even crazier customers, and maybe even a visit from the King of the Galaxy himself!
Do you have what it takes to become the best alien pastry chef in the universe?
❓Okay, the idea and game loop is done, what now?
🖼️The Visuals
Casi: I've made a quick sketch on how the first prototype should look like. I reaaaaaally want to put in more content, but we need to be realistic. Sketch was made on paper, since I can't be bothered to pull out my drawing app xd. It's important to mark out all the stations, which are the counter, the prep station, the cutting station, the filling station, the decor station and the packing station.
Something that isn't visible now is, that there should be arrows left and right, to quickly switch stations.

In total we need all the stations and their items and the customer 3D modeled. Doesn't sound too hard.
So what has been done by far:
✅Main assets for the counter area has been made, except decor textures
✅Highpoly base from the alien has been made
What are the next tasks:
🟨Finishing the base models and adding clothes
🟨3D modeling the prep station
💻The Programming
Patrick: I started the implementation with where the lifecycle of an order starts - at the author, that being a customer. Customers now queue up in front of a counter. Within this queue, there could also be non-customers, in case we do quest characters or something. The capability for these features, or in tech-terms "abstractions" are developed and coded, ready as a basis for future features. In our demo, you can see the simple bare minimum implementation of queueing up customers with their individual orders.
What are the next tasks:
🟨Display customer orders
🟨Specify which food can be ordered
⭐ Outro (for today) ⭐
That’s all for now, folks! 🎂
We’ve laid the foundation, sketched out our chaotic baking stations, and given our first alien customer a face. From intergalactic cake cravings to an evolving order system, the pieces are coming together - slowly but surely!
Next up: more models, more coding, and hopefully no existential crises over frosting physics. 🆘
Stay tuned for our next dev log, where we might finally get our first fully-dressed alien and a functional prep station. Until then, keep baking, keep dreaming, and remember: space is infinite, but our deadline isn’t. 🐸
See you in a week! 🛸✨

Looking at the sketches, I really hope this will be a "Papa's Freezeria" type of game. I loved playing the "Papa's" games when I was a kid.
I've been looking for inspiration for my own dev logs, and I think I'll definitely use this as a bit of a reference for future dev logs. :D
Good luck to both of you! ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ🍰
Hiyah! Papas games have been also a huge part in my childhood and I’ve missed it dearly when they took down Papa‘s Freezeria. Their games are definitely part of being the first inspiration!
Also I am super honored that you enjoyed our dev log! Lot‘s of love :3
